PRESS RELEASE

(Boston, MA, June 11, 2003) APT Worldwide title Ben Shahn: Passion for Justice has just received the WorldFest Houston 2003 Gold Special Jury Award for Biographical Film/Video. The 1x60 film profiles artist and social critic Ben Shahn who was one of the most prominent artists of his time and known for his starkly graphic style. Ben Shahn: Passion for Justice previously won a Silver Plaque from the Chicago International Television Competition, a Gold Camera Award from the US International Film and Video Festival and a CINE Golden Eagle Award. Ben Shahn: Passion for Justice was produced by New Jersey-based producer Susan Wallner.

Other art and culture titles new to APT Worldwide's slate include the documentaries Electrum: Science as Art (1x30) and Vermeer: Master of Light (1x60). Art and science collide in Electrum: Science as Art, which follows the creation of the world's largest Tesla coil -- a tower four stories high that generates three million volts of electricity and 40-foot bolts of lightening. The award-winning Electrum: Science as Art was produced by Alberta Chu of Boston-based ASK/Advancing Scientific Knowledge.

Vermeer: Master of Light uses 3D software, extreme magnification, and animation to reveal the techniques used by the master painter Johannes Vermeer. Vermeer was filmed on location in Delft, Holland (Vermeer's home) and at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. which produced the film. APT Worldwide's parent company, American Public Television, currently distributes both Electrum and Vermeer to U.S. public television stations.
