AMERICAN PUBLIC TELEVISION ANNOUNCES NINE NEW KEY MARKETS TO THE ALREADY UNPRECEDENTED LAUNCH OF THE CREATE CHANNEL
Bringing the National Coverage of Licensees to nearly 64% of USTVHH

PRESS RELEASE
Boston, Mass. (Thursday, February 16, 2006) - Create, the new lifelong learning channel featuring public television's most popular how-to programming which launched on January 9, 2006, is now carried by 84 licensees/157 stations including 16 of the top 25 markets. Since the initial station sign-up period ended, nine new markets have committed to carrying this dynamic new channel, distributed by American Public Television (APT), with more expected to sign on before the end of this year.

Now, viewers in the following additional areas will be able to watch their favorite public television cooking, travel, gardening, arts & crafts and home improvement shows at new and more convenient times: Tempe, AZ (KAET); Connecticut (CPTV); Carbondale, IL (WSIU); Kansas City, MO (KCPT); Flint, MI (WFUM), Nebraska (NET); Charlotte, NC (WTVI); University Park, PA(WPSU) and Waco, TX (KWBU).

"Create offers viewers a place to watch the best of public television's how-to shows all in one channel," says Chris Funkhouser, vice president of exchange, digital & distribution services for APT. "We had expected at least 10 additional markets by the one year anniversary of the launch (Jan. 2007). To already have these nine new markets, including two statewide networks, exceeds our expectations."

Each week, Create features 30 high-profile series and specials including such popular programs as America's Test Kitchen, The Best of the Joy of Painting, Lidia's Family Table, One Stroke Painting With Donna Dewberry, P. Allen Smith's Garden Home, Rick Steves' Europe Classics, Scrapbook Memories, This Old House and The Victory Garden. Viewers will be greeted by familiar faces such as travel guru Rick Steves, revered painter Bob Ross, popular chefs Lidia Bastianich and Martin Yan and master carpenter Norm Abram. Create is presented and distributed by APT in collaboration with WNET New York and WGBH Boston. The channel was successfully launched in those two local markets in 2004 on WGBH DTV/Comcast Cable and the digital service of Thirteen/WNET's sister station, WLIW DTV/Cablevision.

This unique channel features 12-to-24 hours per day (depending upon the market) of programming culled from the extensive catalog of APT. Other program contributors providing popular how-to shows include the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). In addition to the television channel, an accompanying Web site, CreateTV.com, provides viewers with schedule information, recipes, tips, merchandise and more about their favorite hosts such as bios and special appearances dates.

Create is now available nationwide in conjunction with local public TV stations. Viewers can check with their local cable provider and public television station to find out where to watch this new digital channel.
