APT HD leads off our new August programming with the premiere of GardenStory: Inspiring Spaces, Healing Places (10/30) (WS/HD Mix: #101-#104 WS; #105-#110 HD). Beginning Sunday, August 10, the series will profile innovative and exemplary gardens from Massachusetts to Missouri, while focusing on the power of gardens to create positive social change, and the need for stewardship of our natural world.
Other new titles debuting in August include:
Great Museums: China: West Meets East at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (1/60; HD) arrives on 8/8 and 8/9, to coincide with the start of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. As if the title didn't give it away, the latest installment in the Great Museums series explores the nearly 40 centuries of Chinese paintings, wall hangings, calligraphy, sculpture, textiles and clothing on display at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Earlier in the month (8/1 and 8/2), we feed "Shanghai" and "Hong Kong" from Smart Travels — Pacific Rim With Rudy Maxa for curious viewers wanting to know more about the Far East. Two other episode from the series — "Maui and the Big Island" and "Oahu and Kauai" — feed on August 21 to commemorate Hawaii's admission into the Union.
Globe Trekker's "Los Angeles City Guide" (1/60; WS) finds a star-struck Megan McCormick making her way through Tinseltown: she seeks out the homes of the rich and fabulous, explores the backlots of Paramount Studios, experiences quirky Venice Beach, window-shops along ritzy Rodeo Drive and further south, tours the Queen Mary, navigates the curves of Mulholland Drive and stands beneath the famous Hollywood sign.
Season three of The Zula Patrol (13/30; HD) zooms into in the 7:00 AM slot beginning Saturday, August 16. Follow the lovably wacky band of galaxy-hopping animated characters as they set off on all-new adventures while piquing young viewers' interest in science and astronomy.
