Clever Scheduling of Classic Movies
Movies from the WARNER/TURNER CLASSIC FILM PACKAGE came alive again in July. THE PHILADELPHIA STORY topped the primetime public television ratings chart on Saturday, July 8, earning a 2.1 on five stations. One station, in particular, capitalized on its movie momentum by scheduling two back-to-back. PubTV noted: “WVIZ/Cleveland scored by following the same movie up with another by STORY star Hepburn, BRINGING UP BABY.” Another station, KQED/SAN FRANCISCO, also retained their audience by pairing this classic movie with an APT “doc about one of its stars, CARY GRANT: THE LEADING MAN.”
Other movies earning high primetime ratings throughout the month include RUN SILENT, RUN DEEP (2.0 over 13 plays), VICTOR VICTORIA (1.7 over 11 plays), and ALICE DOESN’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE (1.7 over 7 plays).
