Description
AN AMERICAN IN CANADA is a provocative comedy that takes a quirky and affectionate look at Canadians through the eyes of a brash American who finds them strange and perplexing. After getting fired for beating up his station manager, Jake Crewe (Rick Roberts) goes from being host of the number one TV morning show in Phoenix to the only job his agent can land him — co-host of the third rated morning show in Calgary, Canada. A stellar ensemble cast includes: Timm Zemanek as the Calgary station manager who can't understand "why Americans always have to be number one;" Canadian funnyman Stewart Francis, the current host of Wake Up Calgary, who believes that any American who comes to Canada must have killed somebody; Matthew Ferguson, Jake's flaky floor director; Scott Thompson, Jake's slippery L.A. agent; Sugith Varughese, the spiritual owner of the donut shop where Jake finds bad coffee and profound wisdom; and Helene Joy, the no-nonsense producer of Wake Up Calgary, who soon realizes that Jake's romantic interest in her takes second place to his overwhelming ambition to snag an anchor job back in the United States. |
