The Emmy®-winning nature documentary series CHANGING SEAS focuses on timely issues affecting the world's oceans. Narrated by Peter Thomas, a veteran narrator of American television programs, the series goes to sea with explorers and scientists as they use cutting-edge technology to study the Earth's last frontier. Cameras venture into the blue alongside oceanographers and other experts seeking to better understand the threats facing oceans, including overfishing, global climate change and pollution. In season eight, scientists study various marine life, including a group of manatees that aggregate in the warm waters of Crystal River, Fla., and explore whether sponges, once considered the first animals to branch off the "Animal Tree of Life," are really the oldest creatures in the seas. They also travel to the uninhabited Maug Islands, which were formed by an ancient volcano in the Pacific Ocean, in hopes of studying the impact ocean acidification has on the coral reefs inside the submerged volcanic crater.
