Today's kids face a dizzying array of new technology and frontiers in learning — and it's difficult for any parent to keep up. Youth ages eight to 18 use media — including mobile technology, television, music players, computers, video games, and more — for nearly 11 hours each day, according to a 2010 study by the Kaiser Family Foundation. With so many choices, parents need a way to help them navigate this changing world alongside their children. Season four of IQ: SMARTPARENT continues to grow and build on the foundation of the previous three seasons by providing even more in-depth exploration of topics, from turning an ordinary scavenger hunt into a high-tech adventure with geocaching to using digital media for social and emotional learning, based on the teachings of Fred Rogers. Each half-hour episode typically includes a host, three to five expert guests, guest parents and children, parent bloggers, and in some cases, a studio audience that participates in a question-and-answer session. Veteran news anchor Darieth Chisolm returns as host for the fourth season.
