The Gion Matsuri is a three-night-long event filled with traditional Japanese cuisine, music, folklore, and spiritual rituals, in addition to fantastic parades that showcase Matsuri floats, known as "dashi" or "sansha," designed to welcome the divine spirits of traditional Japanese folklore. The cultural festival began over 1,000 years ago and is still flourishing today. Alongside local guides, Gary shares the experience with viewers around the world as he unravels the mystery of the decorations and meets the foreign volunteers.
