Art & Culture  TV-G

MN ORIGINAL is the award-winning arts series celebrating Minnesota's creative community by exhibiting fascinating and unique compositions from working artists. The 20-part series not only showcases talented individuals — from poets to painters — but also aims to inspire viewers to think about the arts and artists in new ways, as well as promote a deeper understanding of the creative process. Each episode features three or four profiles of artists representing a variety of disciplines. The second season features teacher Crystal Spring from Washburn High School, who empowers students to explore race, abuse and other issues that impact them through the school's acting program. Oil painter Leslie Barlow explores multi- culturalism and identity through portraiture. Artist James Brenner engages the community when creating large-scale public art pieces. Deaf writer Raymond Luczak performs his poem Birthright in American Sign Language at the Heights Theater in Minneapolis, and Nicholas David, a finalist from NBC's The Voice, performs his soulful music.
