Season four of RUDY MAXA'S WORLD takes an in-depth look at the food that makes Japanese and Korean cuisine two of the world's most admired. Joined by Washington, D.C. chef and restaurant owner Daisuke Utagawa, Rudy explores the vibrant cities of Tokyo, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Hong Kong and Seoul. On the northernmost island of Hokkaido, where ramen is known as Japan's "soul food," Rudy and Daisuke visit Sapporo, Hokkaido's capital and host city of the 1972 Winter Olympics. Sapporo is also known as a world-class skiing venue. While there, they track down the multi-generational families that produce the ingredients for ramen, visit one of the island's premier ski resorts, and check out a whiskey distillery that helps make Japan's award-winning spirits. In addition, Rudy and Daisuke enthusiastically eat their way through Hong Kong, from cheap but authentic hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurants to Michelin-starred palaces. They also explore the island's night life, a restaurant behind Hong Kong's wall of skyscrapers, and the calm waters of Repulse Bay, located in the southern part of Hong Kong island. And in Bangkok, a city of the senses where chaos and serenity happily co-exist, Rudy and Daisuke roll up their sleeves and prepare to eat their way across the city.
