WZZQ THE MOVIE
(1/60) NEW

Documentary  TV-PG

In Jackson, Mississippi in 1968, an extraordinary thing happened: a sleepy, easy-listening radio station stopped playing Henry Mancini and began playing Jefferson Airplane. With no playlists, no rules, and very few inhibitions, this new counterculture freeform station rocked the mid-South and became a way of life for its young listeners throughout the 1970s. WZZQ THE MOVIE tells the story of how the station came to be, why it ended, its cultural importance at the time, and how its legacy still lives on today. This hour-long film includes a classic collection of hits from the 1970s along with original recordings from the station, telling an intriguing story about how one FM radio station rocked the airwaves and catalyzed a cultural shift whose impact is still felt today.
