AMERICA'S HEARTLAND Season 12

The Emmy-winning AMERICA'S HEARTLAND, which began in 2005, celebrates the men and women across the United States who grow the country's crops, raise its livestock, tend its nurseries, and prepare its food.

Season 12 features some of the best past-season episodes, including the Emmy Award-winning program about a California ranching family's last annual cattle drive with the family patriarch. There are also memorable episodes about Minnesota sugar beet growers' racing against freezing temperatures to harvest their crop, and the Ohio farm that was once used by Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall for their honeymoon. In another episode, viewers learn how new tools help track Idaho produce from farm to table. Additionally, popular series segments all return, including: "Farm to Fork,"with Sharon Profis; the history of major agricultural products in "Harvesting Knowledge;"and interesting historical and nutritional facts about the origins, manufacture and nutritional benefits of common food products in "Off the Shelf."
