BEST OF THE JOY OF PAINTING, THE Season 33

Bob Ross delights and offers encouragement to the painting hobbyist in this encore presentation of THE BEST OF THE JOY OF PAINTING. In these 52 entertaining and instructional episodes, selected from the vast Joy of Paintinglibrary, the soft-spoken Ross creates tranquil natural scenes, including his trademark "happy" clouds, cascading waterfalls, snow-covered forests, serene lakes and distant mountain summits.

Using his "wet-on-wet" technique, Ross calmly glides large brushes across the canvas. This accessible technique, so-named because it involves the application of oil paint on a wet canvas, eliminates the need for each layer of paint to dry.

A cult-like figure since his low-budget, unrehearsed and unedited Joy of Paintingprograms first aired in 1982, the late Bob Ross' enduring popularity is attributable to more than just his paintings. His serene, nurturing disposition can serve as therapy for the weary, and his respect for nature and wildlife have helped heighten environmental awareness.
