THE GETTYSBURG BOOK: A FATHER, SON AND THE KILLER ANGELS explores Michael Shaara's creation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "The Killer Angels" and the mental illness that fueled his genius while destroying his family. Despite critical acclaim, the book found only commercial indifference until its 1993 resurgence, inspired by Ken Burns' "The Civil War" and the film "Gettysburg" – which Shaara didn't live to see. Featuring son Jeff Shaara, Ken Burns and Stephen Lang, THE GETTYSBURG BOOK explores the fragile line between creation and destruction, as well as the internal battle that gave rise to one of the most influential works of American historical storytelling.
