JONNIE
TV-PG · 1 × 90 min
Producer: Montana PBS
JONNIE chronicles the life of Montana legend Jonnie Jonckowski, whose Olympic pentathlon dreams were derailed by injury, leading her to a new challenge – professional bull riding. Her intrepid pursuit of a world title in the 1980s defied gender stereotypes but also resulted in life-threatening injuries and a turbulent period marked by poverty, heartbreak and assault. Now, four decades later, Jonnie still rises to challenges, rescuing abandoned horses, battling natural disasters and aiding her community. Blending archival and verité footage, intimate interviews with bull-riding experts, and artful sketch animation, the film explores the human need to find meaning in adversity.
