ON HOME GROUND: LIFE AFTER SERVICE
TV-PG · 1 × 60 min
Producer: Mountain Lake PBS
The documentary guides viewers on a journey of re-assimilation into civilian life with veterans living near the Adirondack Mountains. Their small hometowns are scenic and peaceful, but also remote and isolating. The physical distance means limited access to essentials like healthcare, and a struggling economy contributes to widespread unemployment for veterans.
Years after coming back, each vet reflects on their coming home, rebuilding relationships, grappling with physical and mental changes, and finding a unique grounding in the camaraderie among fellow veterans.
