As of July 1, 2026, APT is serving as PBS’s content partner for pledge programming. PBS will distribute those programs directly to member stations and as a result, Premium Service has been sunset. However, because Premium Service programs remain under rights, the existing catalog is available to all stations at no additional charge.

Formed in 1990, Premium Service — one of APT’s three programming divisions — was a programming fund that provided fundraising specials for member stations. Through the creation of original programming concepts and the acquisition of existing high-quality programs, Premium Service distributed hundreds of specials over its 37-season history, including some of public television's most prestigious and highest-earning programs, including Deconstructing the Beatles, Willie Nelson's 90th Birthday Celebration, and America’s Home Cooking.
